FAQs
-
Do you accept cash / card as payment? We accept cash, debit, credit, and contactless. You can also bring in your clothes to swap them in for something new. For every item you bring, you get one token. If you can't find something you like this time, next time you come back, bring your tokens with you.
-
What if I don't have anything to trade?Everything in our inventory is Pay What You Feel starting at £1. You're invited to pay more to support our mission. If £1 is out of your budget, we're happy to give you whatever you'd like free of charge. No questions asked. We have a section of professional clothes that are perfect for interviews. Everyone deserves to feel happy and comfortable in their clothes, no matter their financial situation.
-
Is there a limit to items of clothing I can bring? No, there is no limit. All we ask is that your clothing / material is washed before being swapped.
-
What is the difference between £1 and £10 clothes? The difference is quality of material, so expect fast fashion brands like Primark, Boohoo, and Pretty Little Thing on the £1 Rail and Levi’s and Vintage clothing that are designed to last on the £10 Rail.
-
Do you accept Children's Clothes?Any children’s clothes that are donated to us are then donated to Hackney Mother's and Children's Bank. We act as a donation point for several charities including Care4Calais, Sistah Space and of course, Hackney Mother's and Children's Bank.
-
How long have you been operating? We ran our first clothing swap in 2019. After several markets, events, and pop ups, we moved into a space where we had the opportunity to partner with charities to give clothes to those who need them for free and start hosting weekly and monthly free classes. Now we’re trying to prove our financial sustainability to be able to expand our operation.
-
How do you make money?First of all, if people choose not to swap they can pay-as-they-feel for clothes. We also host free and affordably priced workshops teaching mending and upcycling. In addition, we take a small commission from small businesses who stock in our shop. Last, but not least, because we’re a sustainability-focused community-led business, we’re eligible for quite a few grants!
